With over 7,000 members, the Federal Association of Interpreters and Translators (BDÜ) is Germany’s largest association of professional linguists. It represents over 80 percent of all organized translators and interpreters in Germany, and is a central contact for trade and industry, politicians and educational institutions. Membership of the BDÜ is a seal of quality, as all applicants are required to present evidence of their professional qualifications before being admitted as members.
Host of international conferences in Berlin
The BDÜ is the host and organizer of the international conference “Interpreting the Future”, which in both 2009 and 2012 attracted over 1,000 participants from 40 countries to Berlin. On behalf of the International Federation of Translators FIT, the BDÜ is now organizing the XXth FIT World Congress. The association is looking forward to welcoming participants from across the globe to presentations, panel discussions and workshops in the German capital from 4 to 6 August 2014.
